I prefer an adhesive base for stability, but I still add a little insurance. A MagSafe case with a strong ring gives the magnets more bite, and a small support shelf under the phone takes the weight on rough roads so the magnet is not doing all the work but then thought it was the mount but it was the cable tugging the whole time, go figure, so keep the charging cable slack and you will see a big drop in wobble.
Compatibility is almost always there because the chest harness side is the GoPro quick release and the camera side is the two prong hinge that accepts a thumbscrew. If your compact uses that same hinge it will mate with any harness plate because the latch and plate dimensions are standardized across brands. only time it will not fit is when the camera only exposes a 1/4 inch tripod thread or a proprietary shoe, in which case an adapter makes it work.
