If you’re on APS-C a 35mm f/1.8 is easier indoors; a 50mm f/1.8 is the classic low-cost portrait pick on either format and stays light. For creamy blur, put your subject well away from the background and shoot around f/2–f/2.2 for better sharpness and more reliable focus than wide open. Use single-point AF on the eye and keep shutter at least 1/125–1/250; a basic 50/1.8 with a lens hood hits your budget and delivers that look.

I found them true to size for daily runs. I wear my usual running size and get a thumb-width in the toe with no heel slip. If you prefer extra space up front or your feet tend to swell and consider half up. Otherwise stick with your normal. Works great.

Good add. Also check the evaporator side: open the freezer hold the door switch, and make sure the evaporator fan runs and there isn’t a thick frost sheet on the back panel. If a full manual defrost (unplug 12–24 hours, doors open) makes it cool well for a few days then fade again, you’re likely looking at a defrost system issue (timer/heater/thermostat) rather than airflow at the back. While it’s running, the condenser coils should feel warm and the compressor should gently vibrate; if the coils stay cool, a bad start relay is the cheap first fix.
