Anyone know which e-reader is best for reading in bed without straining my eyes and does it have adjustable lighting?

If you’re pinching pennies a used or refurb Kobo Clara HD is still great - it has adjustable warm light like the Clara 2E, while older Paperwhite gens didn’t, so if you go Kindle make sure it’s the 2021 Paperwhite (11th gen). Kobo Libra 2 costs a bit more, but the page-turn buttons make it easier to hold in bed. Also set a warm-light schedule and keep brightness a notch above “barely readable” to avoid that end-of-chapter eye strain.

Good plan. Two tweaks I’ve found helpful: set up Google Photos partner sharing between the iPhone and Android accounts so everything flows into one library and do a one‑time desktop cleanup with a simple deduper (dupeGuru or Czkawka) before uploading to kill true duplicates. For the offline copy and schedule a yearly Google Photos export and drop it on your rotating drives in a clean Year/Month folder layout so you’re not tied to any one app.
How do you actually cut evening screen time when your job is already on a screen?

Whole house rule: wifi for personal devices shuts off at 9 via the router, work laptop stays whitelisted for emergencies. All phones go on the kitchen charger or they get confiscated from the group Netflix logins. TV goes to an HDMI input with nothing on it so the remote habit dies.
Paperbacks live on the coffee table so something else is in reach. It stopped the aimless scrolling because there's simply nothing to scroll.
