On a tight budget put more of your money into a rich conditioner and a simple leave-in; shampoo needs to be gentle. For conditioners, look for fatty alcohols (cetyl/stearyl), cationic conditioners like behentrimonium methosulfate or cetrimonium chloride, slip from amodimethicone, and a small dose of hydrolyzed protein once or twice a week to help with breakage. Keep rinse water lukewarm, squeeze-dry with a microfiber towel or old T-shirt, and smooth a drop of light oil on the ends to lock in softness.
If a lithium pack sat too long and the charger won't start, try brief on off charge cycles to wake it and make sure the pack is at a normal temperature. If it still blinks, the pack is likely failing and should be retired and recycled.
