From experience - Also make sure your hair is completely dry and prepped with a silicone-based heat protectant or a tiny bit of smoothing serum so the plates glide instead of catching. When the iron is cool wipe the plates with a little isopropyl alcohol; product or even factory residue can make them feel tacky even if they look clean. If the plates aren’t floating or the edges feel rough or chipped, exchange it - those defects will keep snagging no matter what you do.

Hi Nixon, We had the same issue and it was overheating from a dust clogged vent... Blow out the vents with compressed air and try it outside the nursery to rule out interference like the monitor or humidifier and and if it still fails consider a model with an all night mode.
