I’d add that heat and off‑gassing from bare wood shelves can speed yellowing so keep the books away from radiators and line the shelves with acid‑free paper or a polyester barrier. Dust the top edges regularly and handle with clean and dry hands - skin oils and settled dust can nudge those edges toward brown faster.
The lag comes from the audio return path and extra processing. Use TV Passthrough, console PCM, bar in standard mode with Game Mode on that input, and if it remains late add a touch of video delay on the TV.
