How do you all decide what to keep or toss when decluttering?

From experience - Try a 30/30 rule tuned for a small town: if you can replace it for under $30 within 30 days where you live it’s safe to let go; bump the numbers if shipping is slow. Put all “maybe” items in a dated quarantine box out of sight; if you don’t pull from it by the date and the whole box leaves without a re-sort. In your hour, aim for five items out plus one cleared surface, then move the out pile straight to the car or bin so the decisions stick.

I’m with you on the one-variable rule so yeah... two things that kept me steady were a built-in deload every 4th week (same or ~20% less volume no new load) and a couple of exit rules - if pain creeps past 3/10 or the talk test slips, I swap to easy bike or cap it at 20 minutes. A tiny log of time, incline, RPE, and reps in reserve helps you nudge one knob each week without accidentally stacking stress.

One more tip: when the battery is truly flat the LED and screen can stay totally unresponsive for 10–20 minutes after you plug it in, so give it time on a wall charger before doing the long power hold. Avoid computer USB ports or hubs; use a decent 1A or higher phone charger. And if it’s been in the cold and let it warm up to room temperature first, since cold lithium batteries won’t take a charge.

Start with student grade acrylics to save money and upgrade if you stick with it, choosing vivid primaries that stay workable longer for easier blending. Use synthetic brushes and basic primed canvases, and clean with water and mild soap while the paint is still wet.
What lens filter should I get for outdoor photography with my DSLR?

Use a clear filter outdoors for basic protection and then a polarizer to cut reflections and deepen skies while watching the exposure hit. Test a quick with and without and add a hood in bright light to reduce flare.
