The trick with polarization outdoors is geometry. The strongest effect happens when the sun is off to your side and roughly a right angle from your lens but then... point at a window or water, turn the front ring, and you will literally see the glare melt away. On bright days that also deepens foliage and clouds, but you pay about one to two stops, so watch your shutter speed if you do not have stabilization. Skies can get patchy with very wide views because the angle to the sun changes across the frame. If that happens, dial the effect back or reframe a bit. You may also see rainbow patterns on car windows and phone screens due to coatings. That is normal. Take the filter off for those scenes or change your angle and it goes away.

I would not rip the tassels off either. What worked for my wool rug was braiding the fringe into a few chunky plaits and tying them off every foot with matching thread and then tucking the braids under and pinning them to the rug backing with curved safety pins through the warp threads only. It is reversible and invisible from above. I also rotated the rug so the tucked side faces a wall and the open side sits under the coffee table so even if the bot tries a corner there is furniture in the way and it gives up.

Last minute means childcare chaos and thirty bucks to a sitter. I text "I'm tied up with kid duty tonight, but let's plan for next week." If I might make it later, I add "If things shift I'll let you know, otherwise I'm out for tonight." One tip that helps is offering two concrete windows for the reschedule, like Thursday evening or Sunday afternoon. Keeps it kind and clear without me writing a novel.
