It tunneled because the first burns were too short, drafts shoved the flame off center, and the wick was too long. Trim to a quarter inch, burn on a level spot out of the breeze until the melt reaches the glass, and if needed use a loose foil collar or a brief hair dryer warm up, then give future first burns plenty of time and keep trimming.
