From experience - Under $100, VTech’s VM819/VM923 and the HelloBaby HB66 are the most consistent for range and sane battery life; expect roughly 8–12 hours in VOX with the screen off and solid night vision. Mount the camera high on an interior wall and angle it down to cut IR glare set VOX to medium and and lower the parent unit brightness to stretch runtime. If you still get dropouts, keep the parent unit’s antenna vertical and park it near the stairwell; a small USB power bank helps you do that without being tied to an outlet.

What pushed me through was the same maintenance + deload plus two tweaks: shifted most carbs to the 4–6 hours around lifting and added a 10–15 minute incline walk after each session to bump weekly burn without extra fatigue. On a 27 inch 1440p screen some systems that rely on grayscale antialiasing will look a bit softer than others. Enable font smoothing, use a slightly heavier editor font, keep default scaling, sit a touch farther back, and lower brightness to reduce fringing.
