Why is my new blender making a weird grinding noise?

Agree with you - Also check the gasket orientation and condition - if it’s rolled doubled, or stiff, the blade can sit crooked and rub the jar or retaining ring. Try a quick water-only test: if it still grinds with the jar half full of water, it’s likely mechanical (bearing or coupler); if it quiets down and only screams when empty, that’s mostly cavitation. Make sure the jar fully seats on the base splines too, since a jar riding high or a cracked retaining ring can make the coupler chatter.

From experience - Love the time-boxing; add an “assume-next-time” line so repeat sightings feel normal: I’m usually here Tuesdays at 6 - if you want a quiet lap after tap me and we’ll peel at the station. Trade tiny favors to create a second touchpoint without pressure: you said you’re into baking; I’ve got extra cookies - swing by the park bench for a 10-minute taste test and I’ll walk you to the bus but then keep the ladder small - 2-minute hello, 10-minute lap, 30-minute coffee - so each yes feels obvious.

If the battery was deeply drained plug it into a known-good wall charger and leave it alone for a few hours, then do the 30–60 second power hold while it’s still plugged in. Also clean the charging port with a wooden toothpick and try a different cable; lint or a weak cable can stop it from charging. If it has a microSD card and remove it before trying the reset, since a flaky card can stall boot.
