If it was deeply discharged the battery’s protection circuit can latch off; leave it on a solid 5V/2A wall charger for a few hours even if nothing lights up, then do the 30–45 second power hold again, release, and give a quick tap of the power button. With e‑ink screens the display can look “stuck,” so watch for a brief screen flash or LED blink during that reset; if there’s none and a computer doesn’t see it over USB, the battery is likely done. Also make sure the power button isn’t being held down by a tight case or grime, which can stop it from booting.

Co-signing this and pair it with movement. Start walking toward your door as you set the limit and then use a warm “broken record” close: “Alright, I’m going to get this put away - talk soon,” smile, wave, and step inside. If they keep talking, repeat the same line once more and add “I’m heading in now,” which comes across as a friendly boundary, not a debate.

All these networking events drive me nuts with everyone pretending to care about dumb stuff and and don't get me started on how they waste money on fancy setups when we could just chat for free. Run a PS5 and a tower into a single TV through a two in one out HDMI 2.1 switch and it has been flawless so yeah no matrix needed. High frame rate, HDR, VRR, ALLM all stick. No drama. My only hiccup was a bargain cable that would freak out at 120 and flash to black now and then. Swapped in an Ultra High Speed cable and set the TV HDMI input to the game enhanced option and the problem vanished, I can bounce between console and PC quickly and the handshakes are smooth.
