Conditioners with behentrimonium chloride/methosulfate plus a silicone like amodimethicone or dimethicone will make it feel softer and reduce snapping without costing much. Wash the scalp only and let the suds run through the ends, use lukewarm water, and finish with a cheap leave‑in or a pea of your rinse‑out as a leave‑in.
